The Range Rover Sport’s optional pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The e-tron doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

Full-time four-wheel drive is standard on the Range Rover Sport. Full-time four-wheel drive gives added traction for safety in all conditions, not just off-road, like the only system available on the e-tron.

The Range Rover Sport’s optional driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The e-tron doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

Both the Range Rover Sport and the e-tron have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, height-adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, rearview cameras, available blind spot warning systems, around view monitors and rear cross-path warning.

For better traction, the Range Rover Sport’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the e-tron (275/40R22 vs. 265/45R21).

The Range Rover Sport’s optional tires provide better handling because they have a lower 40 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the e-tron Prestige’s optional 45 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Range Rover Sport offers optional 22-inch wheels. The e-tron’s largest wheels are only 21-inches.

The Range Rover Sport offers an optional full size spare tire so a flat doesn’t interrupt your trip. A full size spare isn’t available on the e-tron, it requires you to depend on roadside assistance and your vehicle will have to be towed.

The Range Rover Sport V8 has active sway bars, which help keep it flat and controlled during cornering, but disconnect at lower speeds to smooth the ride and offer greater off-road suspension articulation. This helps keep the tires glued to the road on-road and off. The e-tron doesn’t offer an active sway bar system.

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Range Rover Sport is 1.4 inches wider in the front and 1.2 inches wider in the rear than on the e-tron.

The Range Rover Sport SVR handles at .87 G’s, while the e-tron Prestige pulls only .85 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Range Rover Sport has a standard rear fixed intermittent wiper with a full on position. The rear wiper standard on the e-tron only has an intermittent setting, so in a hard rain visibility isn’t as good.

Consumer Reports rated the Range Rover Sport’s headlight performance “Good,” a higher rating than the e-tron’s headlights, which were rated “Fair.”

While driving with high beams on, sensitive light sensors available for the Range Rover Sport detect other vehicles which could be blinded and automatically switch to low beams. The e-tron doesn’t offer automatic dimming high beams.

Optional air-conditioned the front and second row seats keep the Range Rover Sport’s passengers comfortable and take the sting out of hot leather in summer. The e-tron doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats in the rear.

On extremely cold winter days, the Range Rover Sport’s optional heated steering wheel provides comfort, allowing the driver to steer safely and comfortably before the vehicle heater warms up. The e-tron doesn’t offer a heated steering wheel.

The Range Rover Sport offers an optional 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The e-tron doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.

The Range Rover Sport’s optional Park Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, with the driver only controlling speed with the brake pedal. The e-tron doesn’t offer an automated parking system.
