Both the Giulia and the XE have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights, available all-wheel drive, crash mitigating brakes, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, front parking sensors and rear cross-path warning.

For its top level performance in all IIHS frontal, side, rear impact and roof-crush tests, with its optional front crash prevention system, and its available headlight’s “Good” rating, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety grants the Giulia the rating of “Top Pick” for 2018, a rating granted to only 88 vehicles tested by the IIHS. The XE has not been tested, yet.

Changing a flat tire near traffic can be dangerous and inconvenient. The run-flat tires standard on the Giulia can be driven up to 50 miles without any air pressure, allowing you to drive to a service station for a repair. The XE doesn’t offer run-flat tires.

Consumer Reports performed a comparison test in its November 2017 issue and the Alfa Romeo Giulia Ti Q4 won out over the Jaguar XE Premium AWD.

The Giulia was chosen as one of Car and Driver’s “Top Ten” in 2018. The XE has never been a Car and Driver “Top Ten” pick.

Motor Trend selected the Giulia as their 2018 Car of the Year. The XE has never been chosen.
