The Legacy Premium/Limited offers an optional EyeSight™ System, which uses forward mounted sensors to warn the driver of a possible collision ahead. If the driver doesn’t react and the system determines a collision is imminent, it automatically applies the brakes at full-force in order to reduce the force of the crash or avoid it altogether. The Camry doesn't offer collision warning or crash mitigation brakes.

The Legacy has all-wheel drive to maximize traction under poor conditions, especially in ice and snow. The Camry doesn’t offer all-wheel drive.

The Legacy Premium/Limited’s optional lane departure warning system alerts a temporarily inattentive driver when the vehicle begins to leave its lane. The Camry doesn’t offer a lane departure warning system.

Both the Legacy and the Camry have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height-adjustable front shoulder belts, traction control and electronic stability systems to prevent skidding.

For its top level performance in the IIHS moderate overlap frontal impact, side impact, rear impact, roof-crush crash tests, an “Acceptable” rating in the newer small overlap frontal crash test, and with its optional front crash prevention system, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety grants the Legacy its highest rating: “Top Pick Plus” for 2014, a rating granted to only 29 vehicles tested by the IIHS. The Camry is only a standard “Top Pick” for 2014.

Camry

Front Rotors

12.4 inches

11.7 inches

Rear Rotors

11.4 inches

11.1 inches

The Legacy 3.6R Limited’s standard front and rear disc brakes are vented to help dissipate heat for shorter stops with less fading. The rear discs on the Camry are solid, not vented.

To allow full utilization of available cargo room, the Legacy’s trunk lid uses gas strut supported hinges that don’t intrude into the trunk. The Camry’s useful trunk space is reduced by its intrusive beam hinge.

The Legacy’s standard folding rear seats are split to accommodate bulky cargo. The Camry Hybrid’s standard single piece folding rear seat is not as flexible; long cargo and a passenger can’t share the rear seat.

With its sedan body style, valet key, locking rear seatbacks and remote trunk release lockout, the Legacy offers cargo security. The Camry’s non-lockable remote release defeats cargo security.

The Legacy’s standard power locks allow the driver or passenger to lock or unlock all the doors at a touch without leaning over, or reaching to the back seat. The Camry L doesn’t offer power locks.

The Legacy’s variable intermittent wipers have an adjustable delay to allow the driver to choose a setting that best clears the windshield during light rain or mist. The Camry L’s standard fixed intermittent wipers only have one fixed delay setting, so the driver will have to manually switch them between slow and intermittent.

The Legacy has a standard automatic headlight on/off feature. When the ignition is on, the headlights automatically turn on at dusk and off after dawn. The automatic headlight on/off feature is not available on the Camry L.

To keep a safe, consistent following distance, the Legacy Premium/Limited offers an optional EyeSight™ System, which alters the speed of the vehicle without driver intervention. This allows the driver to use cruise control more safely without constantly having to disengage it when approaching slower traffic. The Camry doesn’t offer an adaptive cruise control.

To help keep rear passengers entertained, the Legacy offers optional rear seat controls for the radio, which can play a separate audio source. The Camry doesn’t offer rear seat audio controls.
