The RS 5 has a standard Audi Backguard System, which use a specially designed headrest to protect the driver and front passenger from whiplash. During a rear-end collision, the Audi Backguard System moves the headrests forward to prevent neck and spine injuries. The F-Type doesn’t offer a whiplash protection system.
The RS 5 has all-wheel drive to maximize traction under poor conditions, especially in ice and snow. The F-Type doesn’t offer all-wheel drive.
Both the RS 5 and the F-Type have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, traction control and electronic stability systems to prevent skidding.
The RS 5’s corrosion warranty is 6 years longer than the F-Type’s (12 vs. 6 years).
There are over 74 percent more Audi dealers than there are Jaguar dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the RS 5’s warranty.
J.D. Power and Associates’ 2013 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Audi vehicles are more reliable than Jaguar vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Audi 23rd in reliability. With 17 more problems per 100 vehicles, Jaguar is ranked 27th.
The RS 5’s 4.2 DOHC V8 produces 110 more horsepower (450 vs. 340) than the F-Type Convertible’s standard 3.0 supercharged V6. The RS 5’s 4.2 DOHC V8 produces 70 more horsepower (450 vs. 380) than the F-Type S’ standard 3.0 supercharged V6.
Regenerative brakes improve the RS 5’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The F-Type doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

For better traction, the RS 5 has larger standard tires than the F-Type (265/35R19 vs. 245/45R18).
The RS 5’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 35 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the F-Type’s standard 45 series front and 40 series rear tires. The RS 5’s optional tires have a lower 30 series profile than the F-Type’s optional 35 series front tires.
For better ride, handling and brake cooling the RS 5 has standard 19-inch wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the F-Type.
For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the RS 5’s wheelbase is 5.1 inches longer than on the F-Type (108.3 inches vs. 103.2 inches).
The RS 5 has standard seating for 4 passengers; the F-Type can only carry 2.
The RS 5 Coupe has a much larger trunk than the F-Type Coupé (12.4 vs. 11 cubic feet).
The RS 5 Cabriolet has a much larger trunk than the F-Type Convertible (10.2 vs. 7 cubic feet).
A low lift-over trunk design makes loading and unloading the RS 5 easier. The RS 5 Coupe’s trunk lift-over height is 26.2 inches, while the F-Type’s liftover is 33.3 inches. The RS 5 Cabriolet’s liftover is only 26.1 inches.
If the windows are left down on the RS 5 the driver can raise them all using the key in the outside lock cylinder; on a hot day the driver can lower the windows. The driver of the F-Type can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.
The RS 5 has a standard locking fuel door with a remote release located convenient to the driver. A locking fuel door helps prevent vandalism, such as sugar in the tank and fuel theft. The F-Type doesn’t offer a locking fuel door.
Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the RS 5 to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The F-Type doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.
To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the RS 5 has standard extendable sun visors. The F-Type doesn’t offer extendable visors.
The RS 5’s sun-visors swivel front-to-side to block glare from the side windows. The F-Type’s visors are fixed into the windshield header.
A power rear sunshade is optional in the RS 5 Coupe to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The F-Type doesn’t offer a rear sunshade.
The RS 5 Cabriolet’s optional air conditioned front seats cool the driver and front passenger and help take the sting out of hot leather in Summer. The F-Type doesn’t offer air conditioned front seats.
The RS 5 has a standard dual zone air conditioning allows the driver and front passenger to choose two completely different temperatures so people with different temperature preferences won’t have to compromise. This makes both the driver and front passenger as comfortable as possible. Dual zone air conditioning costs extra on the F-Type.
To keep a safe, consistent following distance, the RS 5 offers an optional Adaptive Cruise Control, which alters the speed of the vehicle without driver intervention. This allows the driver to use cruise control more safely without constantly having to disengage it when approaching slower traffic. The F-Type doesn’t offer an adaptive cruise control.
